About College Test Coach

College Test Coach is an AI-powered SAT prep platform built on a single insight: score improvements don't come from studying everything — they come from finding your specific weak spots and fixing those first.

Why We Built This

Most SAT prep treats every student the same: here's the content, work through it, hope for the best. The problem is that two students with a 1100 SAT score can have completely different skill profiles. One is losing points in Algebra and Craft & Structure. The other is losing points in Advanced Math and Standard English Conventions. Giving both students the same prep plan is wasteful — and it's why so many students put in real effort and see disappointing results.

College Test Coach was built to solve this. The app calculates each student's proficiency across all eight SAT skill areas — four in Math (Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem Solving & Data Analysis, Geometry & Trigonometry) and four in Reading & Writing (Information & Ideas, Craft & Structure, Expression of Ideas, Standard English Conventions). Every practice session is then routed toward the areas with the most room for improvement.

The result: students spend their study time where it actually moves the score, not where it feels comfortable.

Our Methodology

Skill-area targeting
When students enter their SAT scores, the app runs a proficiency calculation across all 8 skill areas using a validated heuristic based on score ranges and domain performance. Students who haven't taken the SAT yet can build a profile through practice performance. Every session is routed to the weakest areas first — not the most intimidating areas, the ones with the highest point opportunity.
Curated, reviewed question bank
Questions in the College Test Coach bank are reviewed for accuracy, alignment with the current Digital SAT format, and quality of explanation. No question is served to students without editorial review. We don't use raw AI output as the source of truth for question content — AI assists in drafting and flagging, but human review closes the loop.
AI coaching feedback
After each practice session, students receive AI-generated coaching feedback that goes beyond a simple score. The feedback identifies specific patterns in what went wrong, distinguishes between content gaps and strategy errors, and suggests what to focus on in the next session. This turns every practice session into a learning loop, not just a measurement.
Rolling progress tracking
The app tracks proficiency changes over time using a rolling weighted average — recent sessions matter more than older ones, which means the system adapts as students improve. Students (and parents) can see which skill areas are trending in the right direction and which still need work.

Who We Are

College Test Coach is developed and maintained by VPS International LLC, a technology company focused on education software. The app is built by a team with backgrounds in software engineering, education technology, and standardized test preparation.

We believe that high-quality SAT prep should be accessible to every student — not just students whose families can afford private tutors at $150–$250 per hour. College Test Coach is designed to deliver targeted, data-driven prep at a fraction of the cost of traditional test prep courses, on every device, with no schedule required.

Our editorial standards for question content are informed by the College Board's published SAT specifications and the eight skill domains defined in the current Digital SAT framework. We update our question bank and skill weighting as College Board releases updated test specifications.

What We Don't Claim

College Test Coach is a study aid. We don't guarantee a specific score increase — results depend on the student's starting proficiency, how consistently they practice, test-day conditions, and other factors outside our control. What we do guarantee is that every session is targeted, every question is reviewed, and every piece of feedback is designed to help students improve.

Privacy and Student Data

Student data is stored securely with row-level security controls that prevent cross-user access. We don't sell student data to third parties. SAT scores entered in the app are used only to calculate skill profiles and route practice — they are not shared with colleges, advertisers, or data brokers.
